Printer Rentals

Plastic-ID offers a minimum term of 7 days for our rental printers, with no maximum rental term.

Because we cannot predict every customer’s specific printing requirement, we cannot include printer ribbons in our rental package. Please ensure that you order the ribbons you need for your job for a smooth printing experience.

Absolutely! We have a wide range of XL printers you can choose from here.

If you wish to cancel your printer rental, a small charge will be applied based on the notice given.

If the booking is cancelled 7 days before the period of hire commences, 25% of the hire charge will be added to your charge.

If the cancellation occurs within 24 hours of the date when the period of hire was due to commence, the hirer shall be liable to pay the company a cancellation charge of 50% of the hire charge.

• All of our printer rentals have a minimum rental term of 7 days.

• If the rental equipment is not fully returned to us by the end of the agreed rental period or is not available for collection by our courier on the agreed date, the daily rate will continue to accrue.

• If our equipment is not returned within 30 days of the agreed rental period, the full RRP will be charged on top of the rental cost.

• Plastic-ID is a supporter of Project Genesius, the Metropolitan Police initiative to counter crime in the printing industry. We are only able to supply rental printers to bona fide limited companies, evidence of which may be requested prior to acceptance of your order.

The original hire charge includes return shipping, so all you need to do is provide the location of where you want it to be returned from and include any other special instructions for collection.

You can add this information in the comments field when ordering your printer rental.

Data Protection is extremely important to Plastic-ID. Please ensure that any used printer ribbons are securely destroyed at the end of the hire period and that any personal data is wiped from the laptop.

However, we will also do this as part of our post-hire checks, so don’t worry if you forget!

Of course, we can offer a negotiated rate for extended time periods or multiple printer hires.

Yes. We include a 30-minute phone call with all our printer rentals to assist you with setting up the equipment and card design – enabling you to start printing.

This is why we ask you to receive and test the printer at least 2 working days before you need to use it. That way, you can feel more assured when using your rental, and it saves you time from having to set up on the day of printing. Please book your 30-minute slot when making your equipment booking.

If you need additional tech support, we can offer that at £15 per 15 minutes during our office hours which are: 9am – 6pm, Monday – Friday.

It will be charged at £30 per 15 minutes if you need technical support outside of those times.

Your securely packaged printer will include all the required cables and disc/USB stick with all the necessary printer drivers.

Also included is a 30-minute technical support phone call to help you set up your printer – ready for your printing.

Yes, but please advise us first. If you need any information for a carnet, please let us know so we can collate it.

We package our printers in their original boxes, but if you need a carry or flight case instead, please let us know.

It depends on the complexities of your print job, and it may be advisable to use special card management software to set up the card design and pull in data from your database. We can advise you on the best software for your requirements and operating system if you're unsure.

You will also benefit from the use of this different software without the financial outlay of a full license. You can save your card designs on a local machine, ready for use with the card software in the future – an ideal solution for events that run year after year, that need similar card designs or for annual enrolments/re-issuance of ID cards.

We recommend renting a laptop alongside your package, especially if your job is time sensitive and you don’t have time to set up a badge design in CardExchange or install drivers/the card management software.

Instead, we can supply you with a laptop already loaded with your card design – so all you have to do is load your data and start printing!

Your data will be secure, and we’ll ensure that the laptop will be wiped when returned to us. The laptop will also come complete with a tough Peli case for easy and secure transportation.

Once our rental printers are returned, they are placed into a ‘quarantine’, allowing us to give them a full clean and test. That way, we can ensure that they’re ready to go back out again and completely up to date with any required updates.

Yes. It’s important to follow the cleaning cycle instructions as per the printer, which can vary depending on your printer and the print job you need.

Cleaning cards will also be provided to enable you to do this process. If not, we may need to charge a fee for maintenance/repair if cleaning cycles are not completed.

Yes! Outbound and return shipping is included in the hire cost.

Please note that this will only include one delivery attempt – so please ensure that someone is available to accept your delivery and that all delivery information is correct.

If returned to us by our courier, we’ll have to charge an additional £10 plus VAT for re-delivery.

Plastic-ID can only offer our printer rental services to limited companies and organisations who are able to prove a legitimate need for printing on plastic cards.

Industry legislation requires that we must perform checks on anyone wishing to hire an ID card printer and report any suspected fraudulent activity to the Metropolitan Police, under Project Genesius.
