Magnetic stripes provide a low-cost option for encoding your cards.  Hi-Co cards are recommended for applications with a longer life span, such as bank cards, membership cards and ID cards.  Lo-Co cards are more suited to short term applications such as hotel room keys and theme park passes, as the data is more easily wiped.
